Director Leslie Woodhead's documentary is a profile of Ella Fitzgerald. It charts the beginning of the legendary jazz singer's long-lived career and documents how her virtuosic singing helped her to overcome sexism, racism, and sizeism in her time. It features archival performance footage and interviews with Tony Bennett, Jamie Cullum, Smokey Robinson, Andre Previn, and Ella's son, Ray Brown Jr.
