World Refugee Day Celebration

June 20th is a globally-recognized day that serves two distinct purposes: to raise awareness of the unique obstacles refugees face, and to celebrate their contributions to the communities that have welcomed them. This year, amidst unprecedented changes to the traditional refugee resettlement experience in America, we embrace the reality that our community has thoughtful questions about the plight of refugees. Where are they coming from? How do they get here? Are they vetted? What happens once they arrive? How can I help?

We invite the community to attend this awareness-building event, concluding with a screening of the film Human Flow, which depicts a heart-wrenching, yet inspiring story of the journey that more than 110 million fellow humans have taken to find safety. Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains and Nations to Neighbors Montana will share some key insights about the roots of a refugee’s journey and their collaborative welcome of refugees here in Billings.
